Cash payments must be made at the Cashier's Office in the Welcome Center, Rm #114, Mon-Tue, 8 AM - 7 PM and Wed - Fri, 8 AM - 5 PM. Checks, made payable to the University of Houston, are also accepted at the Welcome Center on Mon - Fri from 8 AM - 5PM.

Please note:
Financial aid is available to US citizens, US nationals and eligible immigrants through the federal government. Financial aid is made up of grants and loans. Grants are very limited and need-based, so students are encouraged to complete their FAFSA as soon after January 1st of the year they plan on attending UH as possible. An application is available through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid web site, at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

The Bauer College of Business offers scholarships for both domestic and international MBA students. A single application is used for all Bauer College scholarships, which can be found at http://ww.bauer.uh.edu/administration/scholarship. You can apply at any time. There is no deadline, but the earlier you apply, the more scholarships there are available for which you may be considered.
The Cougar 1Card is a multipurpose card that serves as your UH ID card. When requesting to use one of the University's many student services, you will often be asked to present your student ID.
Especially important, your Cougar 1Card and corresponding ID number will be needed to log on to Blackboard Vista (the on line course maintenance system used by many faculty) to check out books from the campus libraries, and to gain access to other areas such as the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center, and the computer labs in Melcher Hall. Students who operate vehicles on the university campus must abide by the parking and traffic regulations, available from Parking and Transportation Services (P&TS), 713-743-1097. Students who use parking facilities on campus must display, on their rearview mirror, a valid UH parking permit issued by P&TS. This permit is assigned to the student, not to a vehicle.
The student lot at Melcher Hall is number 20A, which is across the street facing the building from Calhoun. The East Parking Garage is the newest addition to the campus; it will open on November 11, 2009. The East Parking Garage is located across the street facing Calhoun Lofts and Melcher hall. Also, you may park in the Faculty/Staff lot 1E after 5:00 p.m., if you have a student parking tag.

All students accepted into the MBA program must have a laptop/notebook available to them to bring to class for the duration of the program. Although the laptop is not required in every class, there are several for which the computer is mandatory. Please note that the “mini notebooks” will not qualify as a recommended laptop. To ensure that by graduation they have achieved basic competence in writing, Bauer MBA students will take writing assessments, administered independently by the UH Writing Center, at several stages throughout their academic careers. The first assessment will be administered during orientation, and will be a computer-based timed composition (one hour) requiring the student to respond to a business ethics mini-case. Based upon the results of this assessment, some students may be required or recommended to work with a trained tutor at the UH Writing Center. Each response will be scored for its clarity and conciseness, professional tone, organization, and grammar and mechanics.
